We are a broken and sinful people. People in need of a Savior. Jesus became that for us by allowing His body to be broken and His blood to be poured out on the cross. He gave His life for ours. “What He Did For You” is design for Good Friday, as an intro to a time of communion or for any message focused on the work of the cross.

Easter is more than just another Sunday. It’s more than a holiday. It’s more than a fancy hat, chocolate bunnies and Marshmallow peeps. Easter is about life. Life renewed, life restored and life redeemed. Easter comes down to a simple truth: Death has lost its sting, the grave has been defeated, He is not here…He is Risen!

Sin had left us for dead. It had separated us from God and stolen our Hope. But God loved us. Through Jesus, sin has been conquered, death has been defeated and hope has been restored. The grave is empty, the stone has been rolled away…Hope has risen!

As Holy Week begins, “Hosanna” is the cry of our hearts. Today, we worship a triumphant Messiah. A Savior willing to give everything to redeem our eternity. Today, we worship Jesus!

It’s Halloween again, the much debated yearly celebration. Some of us enjoy the day, while others would rather lock our doors and turn off the porch light. No matter your opinion, the fact is, more people will come to your door on October 31st than any other night of the year. What a great opportunity to be Christ to your community. Greet people, offer them something warm to drink, shake hands, offer a smile. But, whatever you do, don’t be THAT house. Keep your porch light on, welcome people and be a light to your community.

As Americans, we need to pause a moment and remember the sacrifice of so many which has provided the freedoms we enjoy today. Dads are our heroes. They’re brave when we’re scared, strong when we’re weak, wise when we don’t know and gracious when we let them down. Today, take a moment to celebrate Fathers, not only for their hand in our lives, but for being a wonderful gift from God.

Dads can do many “manly” things. They can mow a yard, grill a burger, use tools and even threaten to pull the car over. But, being a dad isn’t really about any of those things. Our great nation was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we celebrate our independence, let us not forget our dependence on God, our foundation of faith and our need for His hand to guide us.

We live in a nation which has slowly fallen away from the faith on which it was founded. A nation in desperate need of God and his healing hand. It’s time this great nation remembered that its independence is found in its dependence on God.

We live in a Nation which has slowly forgotten the principles on which it was founded. We have lost our foundation of faith. We enjoy living in freedom, but have lost sight of where that freedom comes from. Our prayer today is for our Nation to return to its roots. Our hope is for America to remember its dependence on God.

What Jesus did for us should never be forgotten. We should constantly be in a state of remembrance for His gift of grace. God sent His only Son to take our place, bare our penalty and die our death. This is mercy. This is love. This is communion.
