Independence has never been easy. Nearly 250 years ago, it was something worth fighting for. The idea of a people who stood on equal footing, free to speak, free to wander, free to live. These were ideals worth risking everything for. Today we find ourselves fighting old battles. Not with past foes, but with ourselves. We are a nation divided. It seems the very freedoms we once fought for have become stumbling blocks. Are we too busy seeking ourselves to even recognize the tragedy which surrounds us? In this moment; the truth of Scripture rings especially true. If we the people will humbly pray, turn from wickedness, and seek His face, then He will hear us, He will forgive us, and He will heal this land. Today, may we remember this one simple truth…True independence is found only in our dependence on God.

Today, we thank our Dads for loving us, guiding us and most of all, showing us Jesus. We say thanks for being present in our lives, even when life was busy. Thanks for giving us the discipline we deserved and the grace we didn’t and for picking us up when we failed. Today, we honor Dad…Happy Father’s Day!

What if we could love the way Jesus did? What if the way we love could make a difference in the world around us? What if that love looked at everyone the way God does? A love which doesn’t see the past but is consumed by a desire to see people come to know Jesus. A love which is patient and kind. Not envious or prideful. A love which puts others before ourselves and chooses peace over anger. A love which protects, trusts, hopes and perseveres. Do we love like this? Do we love like Jesus? Maybe it’s time to ask a simple question…How can we love…better?

By the word of The Lord the Heavens were made. Their starry host by the breath of His mouth. Let all the people of the World revere Him, for the plans of The Lord stand firm forever. We wait in hope for The Lord, our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, as we trust his holy name. May His unfailing love be with us as we put our hope in Him. From Psalm 33.

We were not created to live stagnant lives. To be stuck, bound or broken. We were created with a purpose, a calling, a mandate and a mission. Even in these uncertain times, that calling remains the same. To go into the world, make disciples and share the love of Jesus. This is the work of Easter. The power of the resurrection in action. What Jesus did has changed us, made us a new creation and given us an unimaginable hope. So why keep all of that to ourselves? It’s time to put Easter in motion. To make a difference and share Jesus with the world around us. If your life has been changed…It’s time to get to work.

So much has changed since last Easter. The world has been shaken. Life has been disrupted and what we once called normal seems like it may never return. It’s easy to be discouraged when the ground beneath us feels like shifting sand. Now, more than ever, we need to stand on the truth of Easter. A day which changed our eternity and our world forever. Death was defeated, sin was conquered and death was rendered powerless. Today, may we remember the truth of Easter, the power of the resurrection and the promise of eternity. Yes, the world has been shaken, but the grave is still empty and Jesus…is still risen!

As Holy Week begins, we cry out in worship to Jesus, our Savior, our King, Our Messiah. He has triumphantly entered Jerusalem on His way to changing our eternities…forever. Hosanna in the highest!

This has been a long year. A year of uncertainty, struggle’ pain. We’ve watched a virus take countless lives. People we knew. People we loved. Jobs have been lost, businesses have shut down and Churches have been forced to close their doors. We’ve witnessed division and violence. And we’ve felt the sting of racism…the deep heartache of hate. There have been times where it’s been difficult to see the hand of God. But even in the darkest of moments, He has been there. Faithful, present, and powerful. As a new year begins, we stand on a simple truth…Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings as eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. We don’t know what this new year will hold, but we know it is held by a God whose mercies are new every morning. This is where we place our trust. This is the truth on which we stand. This is our hope…for the New Year.
